Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Pulaski Day

Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Pulaski Day (zShare)

Hello again! This is a post that branches way out from what I usually put up on here, but bear with me. It's a safe bet to say that most everyone has at least heard this one before. It just fits really well with everything here at Naramata, where I've been the A/V Tech for the last two months.

On the floor at the great divide.

Bandit - Gas

sorry for the lack of good photos.

http://s212534378.onlinehome.fr/BAF-files/dwix/Gas.mp3

Lately I've really been needing a lot of synth-heavy tunes. Whether it's the expansive chords of a new Dada Life track, or a downplayed line in the back of a great Trentemoller remix, the synth noises of yesteryear are coming back for sure!

Today's track is by Bandit, the track is called Gas. I hope you like!

Square, sawtooth, triangle...

Dada Life - Fun Fun Fun

(just as funny as Modeselektor...)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/164229550ec16d33/

Hello, internet! It's friday, so I'm sitting in the Great Hall, getting ready to run sound for a closing celebration, then play a 2 hour intergenerational dance. Yee-ha.

One of the tracks that I can't play at said dance is Fun Fun Fun, by the ever-so-amazing duo of Dada Life. Enjoy!

Everyone wants fun fun fun!

Modselektor - The White Flash (Trentemoller Remix)

http://www.speedyshare.com/428949191.html

Seriously, two of the silliest people in the industry. Modselektor makes wonderful music, and Trentemoller remixes are some off the hottest tracks going around. Here's a lucky track that I found while having a download binge.

Peace out for another week.

Groove Armada - At The River

Hello, world. I'm back! I'm writing from behind my soundboard, inside a gym which is currently empty, and set for 200 some people to come and sit down. I had my computer blasting on random today, and this track came up. At The River by Groove Armada is one of the best tracks off their album "Vertigo", made in 1999. Shit, that feels like ages ago.

I don't have time to upload the track, but I've embedded it for your convenience and listening pleasure. Expect a post tomorrow.

Peace

Freestylers - Future Sound Of Breaks 28-03-2008

Download the mixtape here!

Yooooo, here's an hour and a half mix of breakbeat/electro from the Freestylers to tide all of you over until next saturday, when I'll probably post next. You can quote me, two days after Prydz released Pjanoo, I said that it would be "The Song" this summer.

I win.

The mixtape is chock full of sweeeeet tunes, ranging from some Prydz, to Crookers, to Sinden, to PRODIGY... and even more. There's even a decent MC, although he's a little loud at some points. Pump this shit in your headphones, thank me later.

Peace, until next time.

On Blogging

"The notion that an mp3 blog should claim ownership of material that they post is a fucking laugh. It’s all about building yourself up on the backs of other artists’ material. These sites decrease sales of those tracks for thoses artists. No artist, aside from wannabe “remixers”, are giving you these “promos” to upload here. Nobody gives a shit about the content, opinions, personal projects, or anything else from mp3 blogs. All they want is the free mp3s because that’s all you guys really have to offer. Its no wonder you got the name wrong you guys aren’t really interested in the music anyways. That’s why your shit is all over the map and you live on scraps. The only thing worse than this blog is the guy from the other blog trying to call you on stealing from a thief."

- Found at Discobelle.net

My blogging is going to be slowing down for the summer, seeing as how my life is getting busier and busier by the day. I'll post the right tunes when I can, if I feel that they're worthy to share with you.
Don't stop... believing...

Alex K - The Device Has Been Modified

http://www.speedyshare.com/972206574.html

(I felt like a complete douche for not posting anything lately, so here's post #2 on the day)

I came across this remix while searching around on YouTube yesterday. If you're as much of a Portal whore as I am, you'll be pleased with it too. This is for sure going into my next mixtape as a sweeeeeet break.

The cake is a lie...

Coldplay - Lost! (Acoustic Version)

http://www.speedyshare.com/760267490.html

Again, sorry for the severe lack of posts coming from my end. I'm getting ready to work in BC for two months, and the preparations have gotten in the way of finding more and more great tunes.

VIVA LA VIDA finally came out, thank you Coldplay! Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I'm a diehard Coldplay fan. Lost! is one of the best tunes on their latest album, and lucky me, I stumbled across an acoustic version of it online! Have fun!

Maybe you're a big fish, in a little pond.

I'm trying a new hosting service, since zShare is now way too full of ads. SpeedyShare might be better, I hope.

House Moguls - Promo Mix

I found this post over at Dancefloor Mayhem, and felt it appropriate to share with you!

http://www.funktionrecordings.com/the_house_moguls/the_house_moguls_march_promo_mix.mp3

The first House Moguls track that I came upon was their awesome remix of Daft Punk's ever-so-glorious track One More Time. (video) After doing a touch of blog-hunting, I found their most recent promo mix! I've been listening while posting this, it's got my all-time favorite track in there, feel free to guess which one it is... Enjoy this mix from two of my now favorite windy-city DJs.

WOW.

DJ Mehdi - Pocket Piano

http://www.zshare.net/audio/13084864a452a4ba/

Ed Rec Volume 3 is finally out! Get yourself a copy! This far surpasses the first two Ed Rec compilations. Today's track is by (my favorite, yet rarely noticed DJ on Ed Banger) DJ Mehdi. Pocket piano is going to be a star in my arsenal of dance tunes that EVERYONE will enjoy. Poppy, jazzy, and all-'round funky.

Sorry for not posting a lot lately. I'll make it up to you.

M.I.A. - Paper Planes (DFA Remix)

(my internet is f**ked, I'll post it when i can)

M.I.A. was just in town a couple days ago, I was lucky enough to catch the entire concert. Started with a wicked live hip-hop group, continued on with some Finnish electro DJs (who were fantastic, and only 3 of us were dancing), a 40 minute wait in the angriest crowd EVER, and then....

M.I.A. - Kicking things off with a sweet video about having the minority rebel against the majority, as democratic elections don't do anything anyways.

The show continued for a good hour, with a packed house at EEC. Bass pumping, girls and guys packing the stage, and glorious use of a Trigger Finger.

...they'll freak out...

Justice - Let There Be Light (DJ Funk's Bounce Dat Ass Remix)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/12573293afd45d9d/

I'm in a pretty darn silly mood today, warranting my posting of this track. It's just about as hilarious as my mood. Just try to not dance like a total idiot when it plays.

On second thought, please, dance like an idiot.

Johnny Cash - God's Gonna' Cut You Down (Mondkopf Remix)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/12484162c789700a/

Yes, it's a remix of a wonderful Cash tune. No, it's not going to make you stand up and dance. In fact, this track might make you super-chilled out, or really depressed. One of the two.

Produced by the ever-so-tiny Parisian group Mondkopf, this track reminds me of a chain gang working in 40 degree weather on some deserted southern highway. So good.

Sooner or later...

Moby - Raining Again (Steve Angello's Vocal Mix)

http://www.zshare.net/download/124315247f05c621/

q- What do the following words have in common:
  1. Move
  2. Play
  3. Go
  4. 18
  5. Hotel
a- They're all names of Moby's EPs and albums.

Today's post comes out of my iPod being stuck on random, the weather in Edmonton being wonderfully gray and rainy, and me feeling a severe need for a great house mix. I've been a fan of Moby ever since hearing "Porcelain" for the first time in the early 2000s. This is remixed by Steve Angello of the critically acclaimed Swedish House Mafia (Axwell, Angello, Ingrosso, Prydz). He came to Edmonton last year and played one of the most amazing sets that I have seen/danced to/heard to date.

Combine one of my favorite Moby tracks with the amazing mixology of Steve Angello and you end up with one hell of a house track!

"Loud on your car like bullets on tin."

Hot Chip - (Just Like We) Breakdown (DFA Remix)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/123952338bb9196b/

Yes, it's another post about Hot Chip. I love them, so what. Here's my favorite version of their track "(Just Like We) Breakdown". This song is wonderful enough to be the perfect breakup song. Seriously, THE BEST breakup song. Here's the lyrics for the chorus, for those of you who enjoy singing along.

Come around and around just like we break down
With a fist and a fall we meet with the floor
On the ropes in a hope of making once more
All in the name of what we're not sure

I love belting along with this track while dancing. Remember, it's not the original version, but the DFA remix. In other words, this track should be named the music industry's "How To" on building a song to a super-high climax. go out and purchase as many of the DFA remix albums as you can find, they're solid gold in my opinion.

Divide & Kreate - Sweet Jacqueline

http://www.zshare.net/audio/1234451224faec93/

It's mashup time! If you can't tell from the title, the genius known as Divide & Kreate has mashed Jacqueline by Franz Ferdinand and Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics. It's quick, funny, and wonderfully skank-able. Just TRY not dancing to this one. I betcha' can't.

"I'm gonna have to change this, let's stop for one second."

PS: I thought it would be funny to have a potato masher as the picture for this one, seeing as how D&K don't have any quality photos out there. What.

PUZIQUe - Thomas

http://www.zshare.net/audio/12291288b36ac4c1/

Boys Noize + D.I.M. = PUZIQUe.

I suck at math, but I still like this equation. This glorious track was played by Boys Noize on the album Bugged Out Presents: Suck My Deck Mixed by Boys Noize. You can find copies of it everywhere (even in this post) if you look hard enough.

Happy Hunting.

Shameless Plugging

http://www.zshare.net/audio/120856325f7453e3/

Yeah, the title says it all. This is a shameless plug for my new mixtape. It covers quick mixes of various genres, from deep house to grungy electro, all in 20 or so minutes.

Feel free to tell me what you think, use the comment box!

Erol Alkan Live, at the Gatecrasher Global Gathering 2007

Download it HERE
---
I promised a louder and longer post for all of you, so here it is. Erol Alkan playing a live set at Gatecrasher's Global Gathering 2007. I'm not going to post the full tracklisting, instead I'll let you enjoy your way through this full hour of tunes.

I will tell you, though, that it's jam-packed with Justice, Klaxons, Soulwax Remixes, Herve, Kissy Sell Out, Diplo and...

... Lean & Bounce by Duke Dumont. It's a personal favorite, and has been since it came out.

Ch-ch-check it out.

King Kooba - Big Ole

Download it at mp3space.com
---

It's early morning here, on the 14th of May. Time to chill out, don't you think?

For help with said chilling, we call upon King Kooba, and his track "Big Ole", taken from the compilation record OM: Chilled Vol 2. I'm not usally a big fan of anything on these compilation discs, but unlike most others, Chilled Vol 2 is stuffed full of great chillout tracks.

Check in tomorrow for a "not-so-chilled-out" post.

Peace.

Matisyahu - Spark Seekers Dub

matisyahu - spark seekers.mp3
Download it at mp3space.com
---

It's always the right time for some Hassidic Jewish reggae. Always.

Released in 2006, the band Matisyahu released a record comprised of tunes from
Youth, but dub versions. I don't think enough people have checked this record out. It's wonderful.

Yee-yeah!

ps: I'm trying a new method of posting the tunes. Check it.

U.S.E. - There's Always Music (Live)

http://www.zshare.net/download/11801917b422f31b/

I've been digging through my box of old CDs lately, looking for stuff that I haven't imported to my computer yet. I came across the United State of Electronica's album U.S.E., looked into the sleeve, and found something that I hadn't seen before - a disc of live versions and remixes! I don't know how I overlooked this disc in the first place! (I was probably busy being blown away by the regular album).

Either way, today's track is "There's Always Music", the live version. I hope you like it!

Music's gonna' keep you up all night.

M83 - Let Men Burn Stars

http://www.zshare.net/audio/11760922843cbde2/

Today hasn't been a good day, so I've gone ahead and turned to one of the most genius albums ever created to relax to. It's called Before the Dawn Heals Us by M83. The track is "Let Men Burn Stars", the 11th on the disc.

I hope your day is going better than mine.

Radiohead - Bodysnatchers

http://www.zshare.net/audio/11708791d020538f/

The past couple days of my life have been so epic. Quite frankly, this track could have been on for the past 48 hours, and would have matched the tone of my life. Rebellious, quick, yet chill enough to stick with.

And this track won't get you in trouble with the police.

(Unless you play it too loud in a park past 11pm, with a bunch of open liquor.)

Mark Mendez - Beneath You

http://www.zshare.net/audio/1160592733ed332b/

This track defines a killer use of sub-bass. Crank up your system and your subs for the 1:00 mark, you'll thank me later. (Unless your sub blows out. I warned you...) If you're wondering what the Cr2 photo is for, Mark got "Beneath You" on this year's Cr2 Presents Live And Direct: Miami 2008, a compilation of house and minimal tracks which I'm diggin' hard.

Happy Eardrum-Rupturing!

PS: Sorry for not posting for a few days, I've been a) recovering from Erol and b) in Calgary.

Who doesn't love this track?

Not I.

DJ Shadow - Stem / Long Stem / Transmission 2

http://www.zshare.net/download/11344215845e9024/

I'm considering my last post as a Soulwax post, even if it was originally a DJ Shadow track. Although, DJ Shadow is amazing enough to write multiple posts in a row, solely about him.

Today's track comes from DJ Shadow's first full-length album, Endtroducing. In it's entirety, in my opinion, the album is perfect. It's won numerous awards for various reasons, the coolest of which is from Guinness World Records. What's the award for you ask?

"First Completely Sampled Album"

Yeah. Completely sampled. Amazing. He used this machine. This man is a genius. This track was used in a short skate video a while back on a Salomon promo dvd. I'll try and dig this up, and post it later.

Amazing!

DJ Shadow - Six Days (Soulwax Remix)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/1127740682f2c916/

A classic track by the ever-amazing DJ Shadow, remixed by the genius minds of Soulwax. Find a copy of this album. Play it constantly. Fall in love with it.

It's from the 2 cd set Most of the Remixes. The first disc is a whole whack of their remixes in unmixed format. The second is another bunch of their remixes mixed into a full set. So great!

It's only tuesdaaaaaaaay...

St. Germain - Land Of...

http://www.zshare.net/audio/11183041e804ab77/

It seems that whenever Sunday rolls around, I have an intense desire to chill out to some really rad tunes. Sometimes jazz, sometimes hip-hop, usually both at the same time.

Case in point, this track from the ever-wickedly-cool group Saint Germain (aka Ludovic Navarre). The album it's originally on is Tourist, gathered with a whole pack of other great nu-jazz tracks.

Some of you hate nu-jazz, I know it. Deal with it for once, grab yourself a cool adult beverage, get in your favorite chair, and enjoy.

Leave your stress for Monday through Friday.

Gorillaz - Dirty Harry (Schtung Chinese New Year Remix)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/11131873a1826491/

Gorillaz. One of my all-time favorite groups. They recently put out their latest album D-Sides, which I personally feel (as a long-time fan) is one of the best things they've ever done. This album features a handful of Gorillaz favorites, most from Demon Days, remixed by various people, such as the Stanton Warriors, DFA, and Soulwax.

One of my most favorite Gorillaz tracks is "Dirty Harry" off of Demon Days. A down-tempo hip-hop groove, with the topping of neat synth sounds and a children's choir, makes for a fantastic song. On the D-Sides record, there is the "Schtung Chinese New Year Remix" of this already great track. It's not so much a remix of the track as it is a reworking of the instrumentation, trading synths and hip-hop drum kits for far-east-sounding strings and taiko style percussion. Even the language of the lyrics has changed from English to (I think) Japanese (correct me if I'm wrong, please).

I lurve it, check it out.

Portishead - Machine Gun

http://www.zshare.net/download/10133037ebecfb88/

shhhhhhhhh

Portishead's new album Third is scheduled for release on the 29th of this month. They're playing tonight at Coachella. (Lucky you, Anna...) Some tracks have been leaked online, and "Machine Gun" is one of them. It's percussive, haunting, and quite fantastic.

There's even a video for this track up on YouTube... at over 22,000 views, it's not the most secret of songs, but it's a good'er.

Peace!

The Bloody Beetroots - Live 30 Minutes

http://www.zshare.net/audio/552174241f243e/

Yup! As the title says, it's a 30 minute live mix by The Bloody Beetroots. The tracklisting is:

- Timbaland - Miscommunication (The Bloody Beetroots Remix)
- The Bloody Beetroots feat. Congorock - Bluto Fucks Popeye
- Audioporno - Choo Choo (Bloody Beetroots Remix)
- The Toxic Avenger - Escape (Bloody Beetroots Remix)
- Goose - Everybody (The Bloody Beetroots Remix)
- Goose - Black Gloves (The Bloody Beetroots Remix)
- The Bloody Beetroots - I love The Bloody Beetroots

I've been diggin' The Bloody Beetroots' sound for a while now; Sometimes it's bouncy and synthy, other times it's really rock and guitar driven! Those Italians sure know how to rock a floor!

I could dance to this mix all night long. Enjoy!

Ear Treats!

Hello, interweb.

This blog is going to be the place where I, Bellinger, will introduce you to the finest and most interesting music I come across each day.

I'm constantly scouring all sorts of different blogs for new, interesting, and great quality music. This music is most often electronic, but I have lately been finding a lot of neat 'other' music. I've finally decided to stop being a snobby dick, and begin sharing some of the best of these tracks with you!

I plan on having at least 3 updates per week, each supplying at least one link to a great tune.

I truly hope that your ears are all ready. Please believe the hype.
