You Need, Episode #1

Yes, I'm back.

I figure that an awesome way to spread great tunes around (even after the fall of Mixwit) is through a weekly release of 5 great tunes that YOU NEED to hear. So, every Wednesday night/Thursday morning, I'll post a quick mix of said 5 tunes.

These tunes might be brand-friggin new, or quite old. Either way, I'm putting them on here because they have made my life better in some way, shape, or form at some time during the past seven days, and I hope that they will somehow do the same for you.

And now, without further ado, "You Need, Episode #1".

1 - Animal (Crookers Remix) - Mike Snow
This track does not sound like a crookers remix. But it still makes me want to dance around the room.

2 - Brothersport - Animal Collective
It's from their poppiest album yet, Merriweather Post Pavillion. Don't let the term "poppiest" get the best of you, it's still been described as "...ambient noise with purpose, intelligence, and meaning for when you're really listening" by a close friend.

3 - Bring Back Pluto - Aesop Rock
Hailing from the east coast of the States, Aesop Rock is (in my opinion) the most talented stream-of-conciousness lyricist in the world. Try and keep up.

4 - Heads Up - Bassnectar
8 words. I Need To Get To Shambhala This Year.

5 - Le Soleil Est Pret de Moi (Automator Remix) - Air
Need help falling asleep? Worry no more, this one will put you out.

That's it for this week. If you're reading this on the actual blog, please post a comment! I love your feedback. If you're reading this on Facebook, please feel free to do the same.

Peace,

E

Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Pulaski Day

Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Pulaski Day (zShare)

Hello again! This is a post that branches way out from what I usually put up on here, but bear with me. It's a safe bet to say that most everyone has at least heard this one before. It just fits really well with everything here at Naramata, where I've been the A/V Tech for the last two months.

On the floor at the great divide.

Bandit - Gas

sorry for the lack of good photos.

http://s212534378.onlinehome.fr/BAF-files/dwix/Gas.mp3

Lately I've really been needing a lot of synth-heavy tunes. Whether it's the expansive chords of a new Dada Life track, or a downplayed line in the back of a great Trentemoller remix, the synth noises of yesteryear are coming back for sure!

Today's track is by Bandit, the track is called Gas. I hope you like!

Square, sawtooth, triangle...

Dada Life - Fun Fun Fun

(just as funny as Modeselektor...)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/164229550ec16d33/

Hello, internet! It's friday, so I'm sitting in the Great Hall, getting ready to run sound for a closing celebration, then play a 2 hour intergenerational dance. Yee-ha.

One of the tracks that I can't play at said dance is Fun Fun Fun, by the ever-so-amazing duo of Dada Life. Enjoy!

Everyone wants fun fun fun!

SeeqPod

Hey folks!

I don't have time to upload a solid track for you right now. I do have time, though, to show you one of the coolest sites I've found this year. Enter www.seeqpod.com . You can search, organize, and playlist tunes right from the internet! You don't need to download any crap music before previewing it anymore!!!

You're all welcome.

Search "Detroit Ghetto Edit" - enjoy that too.
